A Journey Through Generations: My Path to Artistry
The journey that led me to this moment began long ago, rooted in the passion of my grandfather. He was a pioneer in technology, a true "techy" long before the term even existed. As a child, visiting his house was always a thrill, but nothing compared to stepping into his tech room—a modest closet transformed in my eyes into a dazzling spaceship filled with glowing electronics and fascinating gadgets. From film reels and tape recorders to video cameras, he had an impressive collection of the latest devices that sparked my imagination.
The Next Generation: My Mother's Influence
As the years passed, my mother followed in her father's footsteps. With the advent of personal computers, she dove headfirst into this new world, mastering their inner workings and software with astonishing speed. Her expertise soon led her to consult for businesses, teaching employees how to harness the power of technology. It was from her, along with my paternal grandfather who owned a candy shop, that I inherited my entrepreneurial spirit.
Fast forward to when my mother became a grandmother, or "Nana," to my two boys. Digital cameras were becoming mainstream, and she was eager to capture every precious moment. Always on the lookout for the latest model, she wanted nothing but the best for photographing her grandchildren. When Photoshop became accessible to everyone, she quickly embraced it, mastering the software with her characteristic enthusiasm. This is where my story truly begins.
Discovering My Passion for Photography
During my boys' t-ball season, I found myself overwhelmed by the hundreds of photos Nana had taken at their games. She kindly taught me how to use Photoshop, and I began designing digital album pages. To my surprise, I excelled at it! One year, I decided to create an album for the coach that included a page dedicated to each player. The pages turned out so adorable that I couldn't help but wonder if the parents would want copies of their children's pages. To my delight, they did!
This was the spark that ignited a full-fledged photography business. It wasn’t long before I was also photographing those precious t-ball games. As I fell in love with the art of capturing moments through the lens, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about the art of photography. My dedication paid off when I earned my certification and Craftsman degree with Professional Photographers of America.
A New Chapter: Embracing Artistry
Today, I specialize in portraits, weddings, headshots, and commercial photography—each session an opportunity to tell a story through images. Photography has evolved into a true art form for me, blending creativity with technical skill. Now, I'm excited to carry those artistic principles and digital design skills into my new venture on Etsy as an artist.
This journey—rooted in family legacy and fueled by passion—continues to inspire me every day as I explore new ways to express myself through art and photography.
